No Fee Unless You Win
Scottsdale intersection accident data shows that the majority of collisions take place near high-traffic crossroads where congestion, speed, and distraction are factors. Regardless of where you get into an accident, accident and injury attorneys in Scottsdale can help you negotiate insurance providers and handle legal proceedings if necessary.
In 2013, a list was made using data from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to find Scottsdale traffic accident hotspots. These intersections include:
Many of these roads are major arteries of traffic in the city, and thus continue to be sites of accidents.
| Intersection | Primary Risk Factors | Notable Data |
|---|---|---|
| Hayden Rd & Thomas Rd | Traffic congestion, speed | Peak crashes: Friday 3–4 PM |
| Scottsdale Rd & Shea Blvd | High traffic, distraction | Peak fatal crashes: Saturday 6–7 PM |
| Scottsdale Rd & Camelback Rd | Speeding, turning errors | Speeding contributes to 15% of accidents in AZ |
| Scottsdale Rd & McDowell Rd | Traffic, distraction | Distracted driving causes 8,600+ crashes annually in AZ |
| Shea Blvd & 90th & 92nd | Congestion, merging issues | 26th in nation for distracted driving fatalities |
| Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd & Greenway Hayden Loop | Traffic, turning | Intersections with speed zone changes are accident hotspots |
| Scottsdale Rd & Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd | Congestion, distraction | Data shows high frequency of collisions |
| Scottsdale Rd & Indian School Rd | Traffic, speed | Intersections remain high-risk despite safety campaigns |
It makes sense that the more cars there are on the road, the more accidents there will be. According to ADOT, the peak day for crashes is Friday, and the peak hour for crashes is between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
The day with the most fatal crashes is Saturday, and the hour with the most fatal crashes is between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The story this data tells is that when traffic is high, more accidents happen.
When it comes to fatal distracted driving incidents, Arizona is 26th in the nation. ADOT also found that distracted driving is responsible for more than eighty deaths a year, and over 8,600 crashes.
In reality, these numbers are probably higher, as smaller accidents sometimes go unreported. Drivers can also be reluctant to admit they were texting or otherwise using their phone while behind the wheel. Just as there are legal consequences for violating move over laws, using a phone while driving has been illegal in Arizona since 2021.
Speeding is responsible for 15% of all accidents in Arizona. More importantly, it’s present in 8% of all fatal crashes, making it the second leading factor to fatal crashes in Arizona. Intersections where speed zones change or drivers are exiting private driveways into even moderately fast traffic can easily be the site of accidents.
