No Fee Unless You Win
Motorcycle helmet laws, including Arizona motorcycle helmet laws, have proven to save lives. In 2020, the IIHS reported 5,579 motorcyclists died in crashes. That was the most ever recorded. Motorcycle deaths accounted for 14% of all motor vehicle crash deaths.
Not all motorcycle deaths are preventable, but wearing a specialized motorcycle helmet is good for providing protection to your most vital body part. A full-face helmet will, of course, offer the best and most complete protection. This is even more important when you consider that 34.6% of the impact to a helmet occurs on the lower front portion of the helmet. An area that is excluded from “half helmets” or open face helmets.
In Arizona, all motorcycle riders under the age of 18 must wear a protective helmet. The law also requires all riders, not matter their age, to have eye protection. Eye protection can come in the form of glasses, goggles, helmet with a visor or face shield, or riding a motorcycle with a windshield. That’s it. Pure and simple.
Gage Mathers Law Group has represented many riders who have been victims of a motorcycle crash. We have seen the devastating effects on the lives of riders and their loved ones. A rider’s injuries can range from minor abrasions and soreness to broken bones, degloving injuries, severe road rash, traumatic brain injuries, and death.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC):
These days, the majority of U.S. states have universal or partial helmet laws. This runs contrary to bike culture ideologies and myths. Many riders may claim that their vision or hearing is diminished when wearing one; however, studies support the contrary. There is resistance by many riders, objecting to mandatory helmet laws and suggesting real men don’t wear helmets, but the fact is a helmet provides better protection than nothing at all and may one day save your life.
Most modern helmets do not reduce visibility or impair hearing. You should be able to find one that is comfortable and increases your safety. Never mind just surviving a crash, helmets can also prevent significant brain injuries. Make sure your helmet has a valid U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) label. The label means the helmet meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards – this is also known as the FMVSS 218 standard. Novelty helmets without this label may not meet the same standard and will not provide the best protection needed in a crash.
